Japan has so much natural beauty and adventure to offer, with an amazing diversity of landscapes that change with the time of year. Dragonfly has an exciting range of school programs in relatively unexplored areas that are not offered by other organizations. When developing programs, we look to make experiences authentic, collaborating with local communities, and infusing traditional, cultural practices.
Ishigaki and nearby islands are the southernmost in Okinawa, pristine and just an hour away. The islands are ringed by reefs creating calm waters full of life. The volcanic coastal rock features, mountainous jungle, and mangrove wetlands are perfect for adventures like kayaking through mangroves, waterfall hikes, boating upriver into the forest, snorkeling within protective reefs or scuba diving with manta rays. Students will also experience a traditional Okinawan village and participate in community-based activities.

Hike a volcano, go white water rafting, kayak in a clear crater lake or the dramatic ocean coastline, ski and snowboard world famous powder, relax in a natural hot spring, bicycle through the countryside.
