EQ in Outdoor Education
Outdoor education and EQ are a natural fit, bringing clarity to the concept of personal development. Our approach integrates emotional intelligence with experiential learning, using an EQ curriculum and tools to design and deliver focused outcomes.
We work closely with schools and teachers to choose relevant and meaningful social and emotional learning outcomes. Instead of general goals like expanding comfort zones, we look at connecting outcomes + objectives + EQ competencies, for example linking dealing with adversity, increasing personal resilience, and exercising optimism.
This approach identifies a clear purpose and provides direction
Dragonfly’s trainers have clear goals that direct lesson planning, feedback and reflection. Schools and parents have clear expectations and can follow up a course with guided questions.
Courses use EQ measurements
Each student completes an online EQ assessment. These are then consolidated by activity group in a dashboard, creating a picture of the group identity, strengths and areas for development.

Over 40 activities
for all adventure
We lead many activities, and these vary by location. We provide land based, water based and community service. Here is a general list, but feel free to ask us about others. When designing a program, we consult closely with schools, advising activities which fit best with the aims of the course. Activities are the medium for facilitating outcomes.
